Tino pai tamariki ma! The Koanga Festival was a huge success, and that is all down to your hard work and commitment during the year. It was clear that you had all put in time practising your performance at home and there was lots of very favourable feedback for our polished performance and beautiful singing voices. A huge kia ora to all of our whanau who came along to support their tamariki and provide help on the day with getting us all ready for our performance. Ka nui te koa i to koutou maia ki te tautoko ki te kapa haka! Ngā mihi nui Mrs Madden
Ryda and Cherokee travelled to Sommerville Intermediate today to film the introduction for our performance. They did a very professional job and worked well as a team. Only 2 more weeks until the festival! Keep practising everyone! Kia kaha!
Koanga Festival is fast approaching. This year the festival will be held on Saturday 2nd
September at Somerville Intermediate in Howick. Pakuranga Heights will be performing at 1.30pm.
This means that students will need to arrive at our school at 11.30am to get into uniform and have their ta moko applied.
Once we are finished getting ready we will make our way to Somerville Intermediate. We would like to have all students there by 12pm. You will need to drive your child from Pakuranga Heights school to the intermediate, then collect them after the performance.
If you have any queries about the event, or if you know that your child is unable to attend due to a prior commitment, please email Mrs Madden on email@example.com. We look forward to seeing you all there. Ngā mihi nui
In April we had some educational leaders from Singapore come to visit our school. They were observing our practices and gaining insight into the New Zealand education system. To welcome them, our kapa haka roopu performed a powhiri, and the whole school sung our school waiata to them as a mark of respect.
Four of our girls were challenge takers and performed the karanga on the visitors' behalf. Blaize led Te Waka, and Jarvis presented the karakia and the mihi.
Kia ora koutou!
Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa. Welcome to the new home of Te Whanake Kakano o Pakuranga, the Pakuranga Heights School kapa haka roopu. For tamariki, this is where you can find the words and videos to our songs so you can practise at home. For whanau, it is a place where you can see photos and videos of our performances both at school and in the community, and keep up to date with news and information about the roopu. Please feel free to leave a comment on any of our posts. If you have any photos or videos you would like to share with us, please email them through to firstname.lastname@example.org. Ngā mihi nui, Carol Madden Kapa haka tutor
